Daily Itinerary

Day 1Christchurch – Kaikōura – Christchurch

Meet at the designated location at 7:30 and travel to Kaikōura, a wildlife destination. Visit Ohau Point Seal Colony, where seals rest on the rocks. Choose one of these two activities: a 3-hour whale-watching cruise, advertised in the source with a 98% success rate, using sonar to locate surfacing sperm whales or other whales, with opportunities to see dolphins, albatrosses and seals; or a 2.5h sea-fishing trip with equipment provided, fishing for perch and blue cod and checking crayfish pots to learn about the local crayfish industry. Fishing catches are not guaranteed; the captain distributes catches fairly. If weather cancels the boat trip, refunds follow the attraction operator’s rules. Choose a seaside restaurant for fresh seafood at your own expense. In the afternoon, visit the seal colony. Leave for Christchurch at 15 and arrive at the designated location at approximately 17:30; the excursion ends there. Hotel: Christchurch 3–4-star hotel. Lunch and dinner at own expense.
